What We Do

The Tile Association represents all sectors of the wall and floor tile industry from manufacturers, to suppliers and contractors. Before becoming a member every applicant has their technical, financial and business credentials checked.

The association focuses on four areas:

• Technical matters
• Training for the industry
• Marketing
• Information services

Technical Matters

The Tile Association has representatives on the committees who write British, European and International Standards on tiles, tile fixing, adhesives and grouts.

British Standard BS5385 is the Code of Practice for fixing wall and floor tiles, and we expect all contractor members to work to this standard. The Association offers an independent inspection service based on this standard in all parts of the UK and Eire. For further information about this service contact the Tile Association.

It is important for TTA to keep up to date with new developments in the market and assist our members with the appropriate technical advice. Go to "Help" for answers to some of the questions that feature regularly on our help desk.

The TTA's Technical Committee regularly publish technical documents on matters relating to tiling. Go to "Publications" for a list of our current publications.

Training for the industry
In collaboration with the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) The Tile Association has launched a plan to implement training in the wall and floor tiling industry in Britain.
