Skillbuild National Final 2009

At this year’s Skillbuild National Final, Craig Biggins from Northumberland College beat five other Apprentice Wall & Floor Tilers in the first Wall & Floor Tiling competition since 2007.

The six competitors, who were the top six entrants from the UK wide Regional competition, had to complete a tough bathroom area, which included allowing for drainage to a preformed shower tray and fixing around hand wash and toilet basins, in 2 and a half days using products and materials graciously supplied by TTA members Bostik Ltd, Building Adhesives Ltd, Genesis APS International Ltd, Johnson Tiles and Schlüter Systems Ltd. Who TTA and Construction Skills would like to thank for their support.

The other Apprentices who competed in the final were Adam Johnson and John Collins from Leeds College of Building, who came second and third respectively, Ian McMahon from NWRC Limavady, Jonathan Carter from Northumberland College and Simon Wheeler from Thames Valley University.
