Pro-Tiler UK Wall & Floor won the Best Domestic Project 2024 Award at this year’s esteemed TTA Awards for its work within the iconic Stage Penthouses in Shoreditch, London and in a sophisticated pool area in Manchester. TTA Awards is the annual awards evening celebrating excellence in the UK tiling industry, with the theme in 2024 of ‘Building on the Best’.
Situated on the historic site of Shakespeare’s Curtain Road Theatre, the Stage Penthouses project presented a unique opportunity to blend modern luxury with cultural heritage. Pro-Tiler meticulously executed this vision using 3200 x 1600 large format tiles at a slender 6mm thickness. The edges, a critical detail, were expertly mitered and resin-filled, ensuring a seamless and sophisticated finish.
The choice of tiles not only complemented the contemporary aesthetic of the penthouses but also paid homage to the rich history of the site. The precision in mitring and resin filling underscored the contractor’s commitment to delivering quality craftsmanship, creating an exquisite living space that seamlessly integrated modernity with the echoes of the past.
A crucial aspect of Pro-Tiler’s success in the Stage Penthouses project was the use of top-notch materials from Schlüter-Systems, supplied by Apex Grange. The Schlüter-Systems specification played a pivotal role in ensuring durability, waterproofing, and overall structural integrity. The contractor’s commitment to excellence is evident in its meticulous selection of materials, aligning with its dedication to delivering lasting and visually stunning results.
The next chapter in Pro–Tiler’s portfolio unfolded in Manchester, where the contractor undertook the ambitious task of transforming a pool area into a haven of luxury and relaxation. Cladding all walls with 6mm 3200×1600 porcelain tiles, the team showcased versatility and precision in large format installations. The pool floor, a high-traffic zone, was adorned with 20mm porcelain, harmonising aesthetics with functionality.
In addition to the pool, Pro-Tiler’s expertise extended to the creation of a steam room area and Jacuzzi, seamlessly integrated into the overall design. The bespoke sinks, carefully constructed and tiled, added a touch of individuality and sophistication to the project. The contractor’s attention to detail, combined with the use of high-quality materials supplied by Apex Grange, resulted in a cohesive and visually striking pool area that surpassed expectations.
The integration of bespoke sinks further exemplifies Pro–Tiler’s dedication to tailored design solutions. Each element, from the choice of tiles to the meticulous construction of sinks, was carefully curated to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the spaces.
The success of both projects hinged on the team’s ability to innovate and adapt to the unique challenges presented by each space. The large format tiles, with their substantial dimensions, required a level of precision that the team delivered flawlessly. Mitring and resin filling edges not only enhanced the aesthetics but also showcased commitment to elevating the standard in tile contracting.
These projects underscore the importance of collaboration and seamless execution. Working closely with Apex Grange for the supply of Schlüter–Systems materials ensured a harmonious workflow, allowing the contractor to focus on the intricacies of installation. Pro-Tiler’s commitment to delivering projects of the highest standard was reflected in its attention to detail, the precision of its installations, and its ability to meet and exceed client expectations.
In the same year as winning the Best Domestic Project 2024 Award, Pro–Tiler also won Excellence in Tile Contracting. These achievements build off a very successful running streak for the tiling contractor company, winning Best Domestic Project in 2022 & 2023 and Excellence in Tile Contracting in 2020 & 2021. Stephen Wagstaff, the company’s Managing Director, is also a TTA Master Tile Fixer and won Tile Fixer of the Year at TTA Awards in 2019.
