Changes to CSCS Construction Related Occupation (CRO) Cards

CSCS will no longer issue CRO cards as of 31 March 2017 as the industry moves towards full qualification, a development which has important implications for sub-contractors, as it affects card requirements for site visitors who are not undertaking construction occupations.

As a result of the changes, which will affect over 230,000 cardholders, anyone visiting site who is not undertaking a construction occupation will not be required to obtain a card carrying the CSCS logo. Any visitors to site can be recognised by the blue helmet according to Build UK?s Safety Helmet Colours Standard.

CRO cardholders can find out what steps they need to take to replace their card by inputting their occupation into the card finder function on the CSCS website. Cardholders who do not take the necessary steps to replace their cards will find they will be unable to obtain another CSCS card after 30 September 2017.

*?All CRO cards issued since October 2015 will expire on 30 September 2017, cards issued before October 2015 will remain valid until their expiry date.
