The Worshipful Company of Tylers & Bricklayers is joining 20 other City of London Livery Companies for an exciting new event to be held at Lincoln Cathedral to celebrate Britain’s unique heritage crafts and trades.  The Heritage Skills Festival will take place on 23 and 24 June. This is the first time such an event has taken place outside London, giving people a rare opportunity to share in the heritage skills which have been nurtured through the years by the centuries-old Livery Companies.

“This is a really important event in the craft heritage calendar, since it brings together so many different traditional crafts,” says Alan Dodd of the Worshipful Company of Tylers & Bricklayers. “From Tylers to Watchmakers and from Paviors to Broderers, the Festival will open up a whole new world to visitors. We hope that by seeing work in progress and having the chance to try out a few things for themselves, the Festival will help to keep these traditional skills and crafts alive, stimulating interest in them for a younger generation.”

Among the manufacturers’ stands at the Festival, TTA Members’ Craven Dunnill Jackfield will have a presence, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about heritage tiling specifically.

The Heritage Skills Festival takes place at Lincoln Cathedral on 23 and 24th June from 10am to 4pm. As well as dispalys and exhibits, the event programme also includes mystery plays, music, an auction and a mediaeval market. Entry is free.
